Maker Faire: Kansas City Edition

Just because I’m going to be white water rafting in less than 2 weeks doesn’t mean the rest of KC can’t enjoy some do-it-yourself, make-it-yourself inspiration at this year’s Maker Faire!

Who: You

What: Maker Faire: Kansas City celebrates things people create themselves — from new technology and electronic gizmos to urban farming and “slow-made” foods to homemade clothes, quilts and sculptures. This family-friendly event demonstrates what and how people are inventing, making and creating. It brings together Makers, Crafters, Inventors, Hackers, Scientists and Artists for a faire full of fun and inspiration. Come see what others are making and be inspired to tap into your own creativity!

Where: Union Station

When: June 23 & 24

Why: Because you won’t be white water rafting with me

Check out the deets at http://www.makerfairekc.com/ and then GO.

  1. Look for me there! I’ll have a demo booth with knitting, crochet, weaving and spinning. Blue Springs Knitters is the group. I’ll have some hands on weaving for the kids and examples of different ways you can weave and knit using things you have around the house. There will be a couple spinning wheels or more so you can see how fiber gets turned into yarn. There is something at Maker Faire to interest everyone – whether you want weave a rug, plant a garden, perform evil scientist experiments or build a robot! If you and your kids love creating anything you will love Maker Faire. If you don’t love creating things you will by the time you are through the whole place! Thanks for the plug Charlie – I just really believe so much in what Maker Faire stands for!
