I Love Lucy… No seriously, I REALLY love Lucy!

Hello everyone!  Sorry for my absence here recently.  I’m a busy Mama with a secret identity I have yet to share with you all… I’m Batman.  Well, now that we have that out of the way, on to more serious business…  I would like to share with you all a matter that is very near and dear to my heart, and her name is Lucy.

"I'm happy that I have brought laughter because I have been shown by many the value of it in so many lives, in so many ways." -Lucille Ball

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved Lucy.  My love started in a dark lit house, staying up way past bedtime to giggle at her antics.  I loved her so much that when I was required to do an “About Me” poster for my first grade class, amidst the images of animals, family, and photos of me, lay an enormous portrait of Lucille Ball that took up majority of the poster.  She has seen me through the good and the bad in life.  She eased my nerves before my wedding, she kept me company throughout my labor with my son, and she stayed up with me countless nights while I rocked my baby to sleep…

She even helps me start my day out right! Don’t let Folgers lie to you… the best part of waking up is actually Lucy ON your cup!

I even somehow managed to cut off my long hair and dye it red (without plans or forethought) just in time for a Halloween miracle to occur… that’s right folks, I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream and I was Lucy for Halloween!

Yes, that is my actual hair.

No matter how rough life gets (and it’s been giving me a run for my money recently) this show always makes me feel better.  It makes me laugh hysterically no matter how many times I’ve seen each episode (I stopped counting long ago) and it is an absolute classic, in that every time you watch it, there is something new to be seen and enjoyed.  So, I share my love with you!

Here is a clip of one of my favorite scenes and an amazing example of the type of writing that made this show such a hit.

“One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn’t pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself.” -Lucille Ball

  1. There has truly never been or ever be anyone like Lucy. She saw you and your sisters through many illnesses and made you all laugh when you wanted to cry. It just seemed so right that she should be there (at least on DVD’s) when Sebastian was born and when he was first born. I just wish she could have known what an impact she has had on so many, many people.

  2. And laughter is the best medicine of all time. To be able to make people laugh and forget their troubles even for just a few moments – she was amazing.
